Special Interests
My lab is interested in the mechanisms of resolution of inflammation. Resolution of inflammation is an active process that is tightly regulated to achieve repair and tissue homeostasis. In the absence of resolution, chronic inflammation underlies the pathogenesis of chronic lung disease such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with recurrent exacerbations. Over the course of inflammation, macrophage programming transitions from inflammatory to pro-resolving. Our lab’s purpose is to identify, characterize and manipulate the pathways that are key for this transition, including metabolism, cell migration and cell fate. Our studies will likely lead to the identification of interventional strategies directed towards COPD.
